Plovdiv – peace of Bulgarian heaven. Place where Art is the main breathing city’s power.Closed in between the mountains at the central – south Bulgaria, Plovdiv is the oldest city in Bulgaria and Balkans and one of the oldest cities in the world. With its 8000 years existing, this city carries history and emotions of the greatest old civilizations in Europe.

The combination between new and old, now and then is still very strong all over the surrounding. There are hundreds of names still building the art and cultural life, not only in Plovdiv but also in Bulgaria itself. That is why Plovdiv is one of the main candidates for Cultural Capital of Europe 2019.

From a historical, cultural and economic perspective Plovdiv is the leading factor of the democratic decentralization trends in Bulgaria. It is a crossroads of ethnicities that have been living together in harmony and understanding for centuries. This ancient settlement between the East and the West, with its incredible Renaissance Old Town, its ancient theater, the Roman Stadium, is a city where churches and mosques are next to each other. It is looking into the future and is well aware of the challenges ahead if it wants to take its worthy place in the list of Europe’s cultural capitals.

At the heart of today’s city of Plovdiv lie centuries of historical layers.Originally the fortified city (acropolis) appears on the three hills – Nebet Tepe, Dzhambaz Tepe and Taksim Tepe. The city under the acropolis occurs before the Romans and gradually developed to the south, southeast and southwest of the Three Hills (Trimontium).

In Plovdiv are situated more than 700 artists, creating the passion of their life with different techniques and styles and every each of them brings his own piece of history. Some of those artists are members in Art organization communities, like DPH, SBH, Art Today Association, Inter Art Fest Plovdiv etc. Others – are freelance artists
